Hello everyone! My name is Richie Gray, and I am the Gil Internship Manager for the Spring 2026 Gil cohort. I had the pleasure of visiting 3-C Family Services recently during the Spring 2026 semester. 3-C Family Services is a multi-speciality private clinic composed of psychology, psychiatry, and counseling professionals working as a team to promote children’s positive mental health and social development and to strengthen family relationships. 3-C Family Services offers a comprehensive care model, integrating both medical and psychological treatments to help children and adolescents.

3-C Family Services’ office is located in Morrisville, NC. Once I arrived, I was greeted by Dr. Lori Schweickert, Dr. Justin Parker, and our Gil intern, Juliana Floriani, who is working at 3-C Family Services this semester. I started out my visit by meeting with Juliana to discuss their role at 3-C Family Services along with what their future career goals are.

Juliana is involved in a wide variety of different tasks at 3-C Family Services, helping every clinician at the clinic. Juliana acts as a facilitator for therapeutic appointments by scribing for clinicians, acting as a confederate in exposure sessions, and providing childcare for patients with neurodevelopmental disabilities. She also assists with diagnostic appointments by helping clinicians score assessments. On a weekly basis, Juliana attends case conferences and case conceptualization meetings with clinicians at the clinic to discuss ongoing patient care, where she learns how clinicians provide a holistic modality of care that incorporates both psychological and psychiatric treatment modalities. Juliana is also involved in some long standing projects at the clinic. She is working with Dr. Schweickert to prepare a presentation for the clinic regarding exercise recommendations for children with ADHD. Moreover, she is also involved in a community outreach project aiming to provide socio-emotional learning workshops to adolescent athletes in the Triangle area. After graduating in May, Juliana will be interning as a medical intern for the MedServe program, where she hopes to gain valuable experience to prepare her for medical school to eventually pursue a career in either family medicine or as an OB-GYN.

Juliana works a hybrid work schedule, mostly in-person, that offers a unique and rewarding experience. Future Gil interns interested in 3-C Family Services as a worksite can expect an enriching hands-on experience, where an intern will work closely with clinicians, learning their role and responsibilities in the clinic. Furthermore, future interns can expect to receive invaluable advice from a diversified set of professionals, all of which have expertise in developmental and clinical psychology.

After meeting with Juliana, I was led on a brief tour of 3-C Family Services, where I was informed that the clinic operated on an open door policy, further emphasizing the professional collaborative environment that 3-C describes. My tour concluded by meeting with Dr. Schweickert, Juliana’s mentor, where we got to discuss 3-C Family Services’ goals and services they provide. 3-C Family Services offers diagnostic-, assessment-, and treatment-based services for children and adolescents in the Triangle area. Their goal is to provide positive mental healthcare to the children and adolescents in the Triangle area, while simultaneously strengthening family relationships. Interestingly, 3-C Family Services provides therapy groups for athletes going into professional athletics (e.g., Olympics, college and or pro-level) and conducts outreach to schools within the community aiming to promote positive mental health in high school populations. Moreover, clinicians at 3-C Family Services have been hosted on several different podcasts to discuss mental health challenges for adolescents and are currently working (with the help of Juliana) on several unique projects. These projects include providing socio-emotional learning workshops to adolescent athletes in the Triangle area and partnering with UNC to help young adults find their footing after graduation. Dr. Schweickert and I also discussed her own role at the clinic, which is primarily clinically-focused as Dr. Schweickert is a psychiatrist who provides diagnostic services and medication management for the patients of 3-C Family Services.

I was extremely impressed not only by the work Juliana has done, but by the overall work conducted at 3-C Family Services and how Juliana helps to contribute to that. We thank Dr. Schweickert and other staff at 3-C Family Services for mentoring and supporting Juliana. The Gil team is proud to have such a long-standing partnership with 3-C Family Services (almost 12 years!), and we hope future Gil interns can further contribute to this amazing clinic, just as Juliana and so many other former Gil interns have done.
